About us:  Barrio Social located in the world class ski resort of Vail, Colorado.  Incredible interiior design along with award winning cuisine we are bringing a new vibe to the restaurant scene in Vail.  With our focus on the various cuisines of the Mediterranean, with special emphasis on Spain this restaurant will hone in on the creative aspects of this Culinary rich region while bringing a forward thinking and creative edge to the various dishes. With our wine and spirit selections also primarily focused on bringing the warmth and culinary richness of this incredible part of the world to Vail.

About You:  We are looking for someone who can oversee a high quality, high energy and top of the line operation.  With impeccable people skills and an eye for perfection and details, you will be overseeing what will be the best spot in Vail.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the overall organization, administration and operation of Barrio Social. 

General Duties and Responsibilities:  This is not an entire overview of the position offered and certain additional Duties and Responsibilities may be required.

  • Ensures the highest standards for food, beverage, and service.
  • Assists with beverage inventory management, to include costing, purchasing, receiving, conducting inventory, and training staff wine and wine parings.
  • Prior to service, ensures bar is adequately stocked and organized.
  • Maintains china, glass and silver inventory; including costing, purchasing, receiving, and generating breakage and loss reports.
  • Maintains uniform inventory; including distribution and collection. 
  • Ensures proper maintenance and operation of the restaurant equipment and facilities.  
  • Maintains reservations system; checking for reservation accuracy, generating reports, and training staff.
  • Generates reports; including daily/monthly sales and labor reports.
  • Organizes month end accounting/financial information such as invoices, inventory etc and assists with processing. 
  • On a daily basis logs number of covers, staffing levels, success and challenges that need to be addressed.  
  • Reconciles servers banks to ensure they balance and are accurate, if they are not addresses the challenge with serving staff.  
  • Calculates and distributes gratuities to staff in accordance with company practice. 
  • Determines and administers the appropriate staffing levels and schedules according to budget and business demand.
  • Oversees selection, training, motivation, development, and coaching of all front of the house staff; properly documenting actions in accordance with federal and state law.
  • Conducts hire sessions for front and back of the house to include; completion of hire/rehire paperwork in accordance with federal and state laws, issuance of uniforms, and general orientation.
  • Administers and maintains front and back of the house employee records including; hires, rehires, pay changes, promotions, performance documentation, terminations in accordance with federal and state laws.
  • Responsible for running bi-monthly payroll reports, ensuring accuracy of time edits, submitting payroll and distributing paychecks. 
  • Conducts bi-weekly front of the house staff meetings, which may include service training, wine tasting, etc. 
  • Ensures grooming and uniform standards are met for front of the house staff. 
  • Ensures proper cleaning and sanitation of the restrooms, dining room, bar area and surrounding areas.
  • Assists in the creating and maintenance of annual budget and allocates resources accordingly.
  • Assists in developing and implementing marketing and revenue strategies in conjunction with marketing firm.
  • Keep social medias current i.e. facebook, X, Instagram etc.  
  • Maintains contact with guests and helps ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Receives, investigates, and acts upon complaints from guests and employees, to ensure resolution. 
  • Works the floor in all positions, as needed.
  • Completes other tasks/duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Overall Supervision of Front of House Staff and some responsibilities for Culinary Staff

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years in a high-volume restaurant management experience, up-scale Spanish or Mediterranean Cuisine.
  • Extensive wine and food paring knowledge
  • Extensive Microsoft Office and food and beverage POS/reservations software knowledge and proficiency. Experience with Toast and Open Table required. 
  • Experienced knowledge of the unique business/operations requirements of a seasonal restaurant. 
  • Working knowledge of federal and state labor laws.
  • Ability to keep up with the trends and innovations within the industry.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a changing work environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Strong verbal communication, written communication, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects, and meet deadlines. 
  • Professionalism and the ability to be discreet with confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Ability to set reasonable expectations and monitor activities/projects, etc. that are delegated, and provide feedback as necessary.
  • Ability to take the initiative to complete additional work assignments or projects without being asked.
  • Ability to develop staff skills, knowledge, experience, and encourage growth.
  • When placed under pressure or stress; reacts with tact and professionalism.
  • Ability to respond quickly to resolve a customers challenge or request.
