Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to oversee the daily operations of our establishment. The restaurant has a lively and fun vibe, described as a "fun fiesta". It's a casual, fast-casual environment with a focus on tacos and Mexican-inspired dishes, popular for their unique build-your-own taco options and diverse margarita selection. The atmosphere is enhanced by the colorful decor and live music, creating a vibrant and energetic space. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in restaurant management, food safety, and staff training, with a passion for delivering exceptional culinary experiences. This leadership role requires a proactive individual who can effectively manage kitchen operations, catering services, and banquet events while ensuring the highest standards of food management and safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Financial planning and performance of restaurant
Maintains weekly budget and reporting process in accordance with established company deadlines and procedures. Responsible to achieve restaurant’s financial operating plan, to include controllable costs, sales projections, and operating profit. Prepares annual plan for restaurant to include forecasts, goals, and strategies to achieve company expectations. Responsible for restaurant policies and procedures designed to affect control of restaurant costs and expenses. Customarily exercises discretion and independent judgment to ensure sound operations.
II. Development, performance, and morale of restaurant management team and staff
Ensures performance reviews occur for management team and staff as required by company standard. Ensures that the management team meets standards of performance in accordance with Barrio Tacos Competency and Task Review.
Assists in creating action plans and individual development plans through the utilization of each member of the management team. Schedules and holds the management team accountable for participation in monthly management seminars. Holds management team accountable to develop staff members through the utilization of Barrio Tacos training materials. Focuses on the retention of quality employees by providing opportunities for growth and development. Makes recommendations which are given particular weight for hiring and firing other employees within the respective restaurant. Provides added value to the restaurant through building relationships, supervising, coaching, and mentoring of management team and staff. Implements recognition programs to reward employee contributions toward Barrio Tacos goals and objectives.
III. Compliance to Barrio Tacos standards, procedures, and policies
Provides a leadership climate, which promotes fair and consistent application of company policies and procedures. Maintains the company expectations of performance and behavior in the restaurant as established in the employee handbook and standard of operations manual. Ensures that required operating and policy manuals are maintained and available at the restaurant. Makes certain that Barrio Tacos safety and security polices are communicated and enforced. Works closely with management team to enforce adherence to Barrio Tacos specs and standards. Must be reliable and punctual in reporting for work as scheduled.
IV. Compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations
Maintains the posting of all legal documentation and information necessary for compliance. Maintains all permits necessary to operate. Ensures legal requirements are communicated and acknowledged by management team and staff. Corrects any variances to local board of health inspections within 24 hours of notification. Ensures completion of all required documentation in compliance with payroll, labor laws, and personnel policies.
V. Promotions, community relations, and local store marketing
Implements in-store promotions and specials to Barrio Tacos standards. Builds community relations to maintain Barrio Tacos reputation and involvement within local community. Communicates with Director of Operations regarding any marketing or promotional activities before implementation.
VI. Appearance and maintenance of restaurant and restaurant equipment
Delegates to management team and staff the responsibility of a great atmosphere through monitoring lighting, sound, TVs, and HVAC. Upholds Barrio Tacos cleanliness standards through employee accountability and the utilization of restaurant checklists. Facilitates store evaluation preparation and takes corrective action to variances within established time frame. Directs a preventative maintenance program and ensures the existence of the maintenance log within the restaurant. Maintains existing contracts and warranties on equipment and services in restaurant.
VII. Guest service and satisfaction
Demonstrates passion for service by maintaining high profile on the floor and establishing customer contact in the front-of-house. Maintains standards of quality product and service as determined by Barrio Tacos systems and procedures. Responds to guest complaints within 24 hours of receipt. Performs “concurrent duties” of non-exempt tasks during appropriate times to ensure guest satisfaction while in charge.
VIII. Maintains communication within the restaurant
Effectively communicates pertinent information to staff and management team through communication memos, postings, newsletters, and shift meetings to ensure awareness. Facilitates meetings with management team a minimum of one time each week. Ensures trainer meetings are held according to Barrio Tacos expectations. Conduct roundtables within restaurant to solicit feedback from management team and staff. Makes time for one on ones and holds management team accountable for their completion. Maintains confidentiality of all Company information and is forthcoming in reporting all policy or procedure violations or wrongdoing to the Area Director.
IX. Limits of authority
May make no expenditures, other than for the supplies necessary for the ongoing operation of the restaurant, in excess of $100 without the approval of Area Director. May not sign contracts on behalf of the company. May not accept payment for goods or services from any purveyor or gratuity from a guest without permission from the Area Director.
