Our long-term client relationship with KBR has led to a need for an Attitude Determination Control Officer (ADCO) Flight Controller on the Integrated Mission Operations Contract II (IMOC II) contract at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).

Responsibilities:
The Attitude Determination Control Officer (ADCO) Flight Controller will:
  • Serve as a technical expert for the International Space Station (ISS) Motion Control Systems.
  • Work in a partnership with Russian controllers to determine and manage the station's orientation, controlled by the on board motion control systems.
  • Plan and calculate future orientations and maneuvers for the station and is responsible for docking the ISS with other vehicles utilizing principles of aerospace engineering and orbital mechanics.
  • Work in the Mission Control Center (MCC) at Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston Texas.
  • Perform training for astronauts, cosmonauts, and peers on the Motion Control and Guidance Navigation & Control systems.
  • Complete NASA led flight controller and instructor certifications for this area of expertise.
  • Support evening, night, and weekend shifts.
  • Interface directly with the NASA customer, subcontractors and international partners and are expected to have an awareness of the company's competitive position and the impact of failing to meet schedule or quality requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required Education/Experience/Skills:
  • BS Degree in Aerospace Engineering from an accredited engineering school.

- OR -

  • Currently enrolled in a BS degree program in Aerospace Engineering at an accredited engineering school with an anticipated graduation no later than June 2023.

  • Must have a technical background and a good understanding of engineering principles and the ability to apply them to real-time operations is essential.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated initiative, outstanding organizational skills, the ability to participate in a team environment, and the ability to function well under pressure.
  • Must be proficient in Windows and Microsoft applications.
  • Must have strong multi-tasking/work prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, lead, and coordinate a wide range of tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to progress through flight controller and instructor certifications.
  • Must be a self-starter who excels in a dynamic environment with the ability to work effectively both alone or as part of a team.
  • Have team-focus and be able to adapt quickly to highly collaborative efforts across multiple organizations.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge and operations concepts to exercise effective decision making and initiative in a real-time and fast-paced operational environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, teamwork, technical and administrative skills.
  • Must be able to meet JSC requirements for certification as a Flight Controller.
  • Ability to support night, weekend, and holiday work as required.
  • Must be able to support infrequent travel domestically or internationally.
  • Posses understanding of personal computers and LAN architecture including routers, and wireless communication devices desired for specific flight control assignments.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and strict adherence to deadlines with the ability to successfully work/negotiate daily with multiple customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively receive and give feedback while maintaining a positive attitude.

Preferences:
  • 0-2 years of related experience.
  • Experience in Guidance, Navigation and Control in coursework or internships.
Essential Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.

  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
  • Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
