What We’re Looking For:

Knowledge in a similar role or industry
Some leadership skills and the ability to motivate a crew and has a positive and energetic attitude
Dependable, safety-minded, and ready to work outdoors in all conditions

Overview
The Crew Lead is responsible for providing expert supervision for installing erosion controls, ensuring that every step is executed flawlessly and adheres to established standards. The Crew Lead troubleshoots and addresses maintenance concerns related to B. E. S. T. buildings, grounds, and equipment. Ensuring effective inventory management of erosion control supplies is another crucial aspect of this role. In addition, this position involves supervising pre-trip procedures, ensuring that all necessary checks are completed before field operations commence.

Required Education, Licenses, Certifications, and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
  • Three years of experience in a similar position
  • Valid Texas Drivers License
  • Valid Personal Auto Liability Insurance
  • Experience is safely driving trailers
  • Experience in Fence Installation and/or Erosion Control (preferred)
  • Experience in supervising a labor crew

Work authorization/security clearance required:
Must be eligible to work in the United States

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintains consistent attendance and punctuality to contribute to a reliable and efficient work environment.
2. Oversees and guides service technicians, ensuring tasks are performed effectively.
3. Supervises and actively engages in various tasks and activities, maintaining operational efficiency.
4. Executes installation procedures with precision, adhering to documentation requirements.
5. Maintains open communication with the service manager or compliance officer on a daily basis.
6. Conducts weekly Crew-Lead meetings to facilitate effective communication and coordination.
7. Participates in performance reviews, contributing insights and evaluations
8. Ensures strict adherence to company policies and procedures.
9. Records and documents achievements and areas for improvement as part of incentive plans.
10. Manages warehouse maintenance, service records, vehicles, and equipment.
11. Oversees the maintenance of structural aspects and outside grounds.
12. Supervises daily preventive maintenance and inventory records, as well as service logs.
13. Coordinates and performs necessary repairs and maintenance tasks.
14. Compiles and submits lists of project materials and required inventory items for ordering.
15. Supervises and meticulously maintains inventory on vehicles, documenting usage accurately.
16. Conducts on-site meetings with customers before installations when applicable.
17. Ensures prompt completion of work orders upon task/activity conclusion.
18. Holds daily Crew meetings to align and plan tasks.
19. Participates in weekly crew lead meetings to share updates and insights.
20. Participates in association meetings, with a minimum attendance requirement of three per year (HOTBA).
21. Performs *other duties as assigned and as needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our organization's values.

*Quarterly incentives and bonuses up to $800 per quarter based on performance are available.

Physical and Mental Requirements and Abilities
A Crew Lead often requires working effectively and efficiently in a predominantly outdoor environment. This environment typically involves frequent activities, interactions, and tasks that must be completed within specified timeframes. Additionally, interruptions and unexpected events may occur, requiring flexibility and adaptability while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.

The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by the Crew Lead to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently sits and/or stands. The employee may occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift, and/or move up to 50 to 75 pounds. The employee will frequently use electronic devices, including but not limited to personal and laptop computers, printers, scanners, and other typical office equipment. Various field and office equipment is required; therefore, the employee will constantly use their fingers, hands, wrist, elbow, and any necessary upper and lower extremities to do so. Employees will frequently have to twist, pull, or stretch. The employee will frequently read print or computer material with various text sizes and colors. The employee must view and analyze images, pictures, charts, and graphics. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus with and or without using prescribed or over-the-counter optical glasses, contact lenses, or other visual aids. Occasional travel within and outside the city limits may be exposed to various (fair to extreme) weather conditions.

Mental attributes are vital, including strong leadership skills to supervise and motivate the team, problem-solving abilities to address challenges swiftly, and effective communication for instructing the team and reporting to higher management. Safety awareness, conflict resolution, and resilience are vital to ensuring a safe and harmonious work environment, especially during physically and mentally demanding tasks. Lastly, organizational skills and, in some cases, customer service skills may be necessary for efficient project management and client interactions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.75 - $18.85 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
