This position is responsible for the supervising and participating in the work of a crew of personnel engaged in the maintenance of parks facilities and grounds.
MAJOR DUTIES
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
MAJOR DUTIES
- Develops daily work plans for crew personnel.
- Supervises and participates in the preparation and maintenance of athletic facilities and surfaces.
- Supervises and participates in the maintenance of parks grounds and landscaping.
- Supervises and participates in the maintenance of buildings, structures, and fences.
- Supervises and participates in the maintenance and repair of irrigation systems.
- Supervises and assists in park improvement projects.
- Inspects park grounds and facilities to identify maintenance and repair needs.
- Coordinates the purchase of tools, materials and equipment.
- Maintains a variety of grounds maintenance equipment, including mowers, bush hog, top dresser, box blade pulverizer, etc.
- Maintains chemical application records.
- Repairs and maintains small engines.
- Performs related duties.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
- Knowledge of building maintenance methods and practices.
- Knowledge of departmental and safety rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of chemical application guidelines.
- Knowledge of grounds and sports field maintenance principles.
- Skill in the training and supervision of personnel.
- Skill in operating a variety of grounds maintenance equipment.
- Skill in directing the maintenance of facilities and grounds.
- Skill in operating hand and power tools.
- Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
