What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Administrative Assistant position at Barrow County BOC?
This class is responsible for providing complex clerical and legal support to legal staff. Incumbents may assist in budget preparation, prepare briefs, court exhibits, schedule depositions and maintain files.
- Performs various clerical duties to include assisting clients, outside counsel, court representatives, and other individuals; to receive and exchange information, drafting legal documents to include pleadings, agendas, contracts, and subpoenas; provides administrative support, such as maintaining department and employee schedules, coordinating meetings, schedules, dispositions and agendas, making travel arrangements, editing and preparing newsletters, brochures and basic reports, researching information, generating totals from calculations, and providing related support. Reviews, researches and enters information to department reporting systems; and maintaining records such as department personnel files.
- Prepares and maintains logs, legal files, and court calendars for the department; verifying and entering timesheets; performing background checks; assists with tracking budget by maintaining balances; preparing financial reports;
- Receives, processes, and distributes mail and other incoming documents; may collect monies, issue receipts, and balance monies received daily
- Prepares files for trial and other legal proceedings.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
- Prepare calendars for trials, arraignments, and miscellaneous events.
- High School Diploma, or G.E.D.,
- Three or more years of legal or administrative support experience,
- Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
