What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary/Part-time Airport Grounds and Building Maintenance Technician position at Barrow County BOC?
This position is responsible for necessary repairs and maintenance of buildings and grounds owned by the Airport Authority.
- Performs repairs on buildings such as painting, drywall, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry;
- Performs repairs on all Airport lighting and signage
- Cuts grass, spreads straw, uses blower and weed eaters, and washes truck;
- Completes work orders; reports status of work order to supervisor;
- Monitors on site contractors;
- Remains available to assist with afterhours emergencies; and
- Performs other assigned duties
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma in a course of study related to the occupational field;
- Two (2) years of related work experience;
- Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
- Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge of electric, battery, and plumbing tools;
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations;
- Knowledge of fire extinguisher inspections;
- Skill in carpentry;
- Skill in pressure washing;
- Skill in basic computer operations;
- Skill in lifting objects over 100 pounds;
- Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations; and
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with County officials, other employees, and the general public.
Physical Requirements:
Work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes a sense of smell.
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an office, warehouse, or a very noisy place. The employee is exposed to dust, dirt, and grease, machinery with moving parts, and contagious or infectious diseases or irritating chemicals. The work is performed outdoors and occasionally in cold or inclement weather and requires the uses of protective devices such as masks, goggles, and gloves.
