Position Summary:
The Health, Safety and Environment Manager implements, oversees, and adapts policies and programs to improve the organization’s health, safety and environmental performance, ensure it complies with current and future regulations and standards, including CAL OSHA, Federal OSHA and DEP regulations, and protect its reputation.
Essential Functions:
Typical duties will include but not be limited to the preparation and/or modification of the following:
- Manage all aspects of the plant environmental, health, and safety (EHS) activities to ensure that the organization complies with external EHS regulations and standards as well as internal environmental policies and EHS management systems.
- Identifying and implementing internal systems to measure KPI’s as defined in Corporate policies; such as; LTAs, near misses, hazard reduction and safety talks
- Designing action plans for continuous improvements and risk reduction.
- Understand and keep current with CAL OSHA and Federal OSHA and other governmental regulations; while acting as primary point of contact for regulatory agencies.
- Acting as driving force with other departments relating to Environmental, Safety and Health activities.
- Collaborate, Coach, and support the Organization to develop risk awareness and management behaviors.
- Review subcontractor safety guidelines and practices to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies.
- Review PPE standards and establish engineering controls where feasible to supplement PPE effectiveness.
- Organize plant Safety Committee, review committee audits and findings, and implement recommendations as applicable;
- Maintain and develop fire prevention, alarm, and emergency response systems and plans;
- Review new equipment installations for compliance with CAL OSHA & Federal OSHA and environmental compliance;
- Coordinate LOTO and other pertinent maintenance procedures with Maintenance Manager for compliance;
- Coordinate testing in regard to environmental compliance and safety systems (fire and security alarms) as required by permit and regulations.

- Works within all regulatory requirements
- Conducting safety audits and on-site inspections to identify workplace hazards and unsafe equipment, working practices or working conditions
- Investigating environmental or safety incidents by conducting comprehensive Root Cause Analysis and developing and implementing action plans;
- Implementing waste management programs and coordinate external sanitation company performance;
- Developing and delivering EHS training programs to ensure training certifications are adequate and current;
- Managing relationships with community or environmental stakeholders;
- Research, evaluate, and recommend changes to technology, equipment, systems, or processes that will improve the organization’s EHS performance.
- Provide technical expertise and advice on EHS issues to functional or operational areas managers to help them manage their EHS responsibilities.
- Perform all other related duties as requested
About you:
- Bachelor or Masters in EHS or other relevant discipline
- 5 years or more experience in manufacturing environment
- SAP knowledge a plus
- Excellent knowledge of Management Systems is a plus (QSE, QHSE, OHSAS, ISO45001)
- Experience in major investment projects is a plus
- OSHA 30 Preferred; ASP or CSP Preferred
- Ability to multi-task and work independently
- Team player with good communication skills
- Lean manufacturing / Kaizen / Six Sigma knowledge is a plus
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft and Google Suite
