Job Description:
The BW IT Engagement and Communications internship is an immersive and educational experience designed for aspiring professionals in organizational development and communication. It provides a comprehensive learning environment, and aims to develop essential communication skills, offer practical experience, and promote professional growth. Through relevant assignments, the intern will build engagement with BW IT team members in the U.S. and overseas, broaden BW IT’s recognition program, and help build an onboarding and mentorship plan for new IT team members.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Individual contributor w/no direct reports
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in a standard office setting, working at a desk or table on a level surface.
Position Type:
This is a full-time summer internship that will last for approximately 10-12 weeks, with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs.
Travel:
No travel is expected for this position.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those performed in the job duties. The employee sits at a desk and uses a computer for prolonged periods of time. Performing the role frequently uses close vision, speech, hearing, and dexterity to operate office equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Assist in creating and distributing company-wide communications to keep all BW team members aware of the work IT is doing, including software changes, security notices, and technology best practices.
- Assist in creating and distributing IT-internal communication materials to enhance engagement and awareness among IT team members.
- Help explore and optimize tools (O365: SharePoint, Translations, Forms, etc.) by developing and presenting proposals for new communication strategies, then implementing approved strategies and measuring their impact.
- Increase team member engagement from team members outside the USA, including integrating cultural differences in communication approaches and assisting in organizing virtual meetings and collaborative projects with overseas teams.
- Support the development and implementation of recognition programs and new-hire onboarding, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Conduct research and gather data to inform communication plans and organizational development projects.
- Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication efforts, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Effective communication skills, including critical reading and clear, concise writing abilities
- Ability to organize and lead virtual meetings and collaborative projects with other departments and with international team members
- Understanding of corporate communications principles and organizational development concepts
- Familiarity with Microsoft O365 tools (SharePoint, Forms, etc.)
- Commitment to meeting objectives and receptiveness to regular feedback
- Eagerness to learn new skills and step outside comfort zone
- Understanding the role of language in effective communication, and interest in exploring improvements for our specific needs at BW
- Aspiration towards professional growth
- Must be currently enrolled at a college/university with a major in Communications, Journalism, Human Resources, Sociology, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in using office applications, particularly Microsoft O365.
- Effective communication skills, including critical reading and clear, concise writing abilities.
- Ability to organize and lead virtual meetings and collaborative projects with other departments and international team members.
- Experience in interpreting and utilizing feedback for personal and professional growth.
- Active engagement in learning and development opportunities.
