Job Description:
The Assembly Manufacturing Leader will oversee the direction and coordination of a large, three-shift assembly operation. This individual will ensure production schedules, quality standards, and cost objectives are consistently met. The role will involve managing assembly, testing, packing, shipping, and warranty processing. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader capable of driving continuous improvement and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze forecasts and coordinate schedules to meet delivery requirements, ensuring effective manpower allocation and minimizing overtime.
Work closely with supervisors to address unusual conditions requiring attention and coordination.
Liaise with other departments to expedite material flow and maintain schedules.
Ensure quality and quantity of production; assist and instruct personnel to maintain proper workflow.
Review costs and work methods; recommend actions to reduce costs and improve operations.
Coordinate with other departments to control and schedule workflow.
Identify obstacles to achieving expectations, engage the team to implement sustainable countermeasures.
Develop long-term strategy to meet business growth requirements.
Lead lean initiatives and continuous improvement efforts within the department.
Enforce company policies, address grievances, and manage disciplinary actions as necessary.
Prepare reports, maintain necessary records, and attend production meetings.
Embrace and exemplify Barry-Wehmiller's leadership principles.
Competencies & Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of assembly and testing practices for a variety of company-produced finishing equipment/machines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to solve problems and collaborate across teams.
Ability to lead a team with a shared vision for results and a commitment to company culture.
Proficient in high-level capacity planning, scheduling, and staff & training plans.
Strong MS Office skills and a general understanding of system functions.
Experience managing a large, diverse team and ensuring a positive impact on the business.
Ability to multi-task, maintain a positive attitude, and demonstrate flexibility.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
5 years of management-level experience with significant team interactions and proven team growth in a manufacturing environment required.
