Job Description:
GENERAL PURPOSE
The Fabricator performs tasks required to roll, form, fabricate and weld stainless steel sheet metal products, such as parts, forming tubes, frameworks or subassemblies for machinery according to job order or blueprints. As part of the team, looks for and recommends process improvements to reduce touch time and consistently meet promised delivery dates. Encourages others to discover, develop and apply their talents enabling them to reach their full potential. Actively engages in our Lean journey by building and acting on continuous improvement and development opportunities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Rotate through all assembly process steps using hand tools, rollers, TIG welders, grinders, buffers and assembly fixtures to produce FTA’s from engineering specifications.
Perform moderately complex saw operations and painting as required.
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers.
Detect defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties and report to supervisor describing in accurate detail to ensure proper corrective actions.
Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements.
Actively participate in team meetings to communicate and help resolve any cost, quality, or production issues; understand and apply engineering change request process.
Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
Maintain equipment and work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 2 years fabricating experience.
Experience with TIG welding, soldering, metal fabrication tools and equipment.
Experience with machined part fabrication.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Ability to understand and interpret moderately complex blueprints, specifications, and machined part prints
Strong grinding knowledge
Proficient in TIG welding
Ability to be versatile and flexible
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to multi-task
Good math skills including fractional, decimal and metric conversions.
Team oriented
Good communication skills
Manual dexterity to push/pull sheet metal in manual rolling equipment with ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Must be willing and able to work overtime as the workload requires.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Metal weld clean up and polishing experience on stainless steel sheet metal.
