Job Description:
As a Manufacturing Engineer at BW Papersystems, you will be responsible for analyzing and improving manufacturing processes, workflows, and product quality through the application of Lean techniques and continuous improvement strategies. You will evaluate and resolve manufacturing challenges, recommend process improvements, and contribute to the development of standard work and operational procedures. Additionally, you will drive efficiency by leading special projects, optimizing plant layout, and utilizing data analysis to reduce waste and enhance overall productivity.
Job Responsibilities:
- Champion continuous improvement efforts, fostering employee buy-in and facilitating lasting changes to enhance plant safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Use Lean tools to lead process improvements aimed at reducing cycle time, defects, changeover time, lead time, and process variation.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing processes while improving methods based on product design, materials, tooling, equipment, and quality control standards.
- Implement Lean processes such as Standard Work, 7S, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, and Pull Principles, leading cross-functional teams in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor manufacturing costs and efficiency, evaluating cost reduction activities and the economic feasibility of proposed changes.
- Act as a liaison between design engineering and operations, offering technical support and guidance to various departments.
- Develop, document, and sustain standard work procedures to ensure consistent operational performance.
- Provide training and mentoring to shop floor associates and leaders in Lean manufacturing and quality system concepts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve errors in the manufacturing environment to maintain smooth operations.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to less experienced engineers, supporting their development and growth.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or related field (industrial, mechanical, electrical, mechatronic, etc
- 2 years of experience in a manufacturing setting
- 1 years of experience in lean tools implementation
