Job Description:
The Mechanical Engineer develops new, advanced and updated mechanical systems for vertical and horizontal form/fill/seal packaging machinery and product feed systems. The Mechanical Engineer encourages others to discover, develop and apply their talents enabling them to reach their full potential, and actively engages in our Lean journey by building and acting on continuous improvement and development opportunities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop mechanical systems for vertical and horizontal form/fill/seal packaging machinery and product feed systems.
- Perform engineering duties in the design or alteration of machines, systems, or components, considering manufacturing feasibility, cost, and operation.
- Design individual components to complete integrated machine systems.
- Prepare layouts, assembly drawings, and schematics using CAD tools (SolidWorks, ProE, or equivalent).
- Research and prepare specifications for new designs.
- Develop, test, and evaluate prototypes, making necessary engineering changes.
- Prepare and maintain engineering bills of material (BOM) and project documentation.
- Assist manufacturing and assembly teams, providing technical support as needed.
- Support field teams with troubleshooting and installation assistance.
- Partner with customers, sales executives, and cross-functional teams to prioritize customer needs and build productive relationships.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and Lean development efforts.
- Maintain project files, track progress, and report on project status.
- Demonstrate initiative by proactively pursuing objectives and managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum 1 year of mechanical engineering experience with increasing levels of complexity and responsibility. Internships/Co-Op experience applicable.
- Experience with design using state-of-the-art CAD and analysis tools (SolidWorks, ProE, or equivalent).
- Work collaboratively: Inspire and foster team commitment, spirit, pride and trust; facilitate cooperation and motivate team members to accomplish group goals
- Ability to work under pressure with deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask and prioritize.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in materials, component selection, and general machine shop processes.
- Experience with the complete design cycle – design, source, build, and test.
- Experience with power transmission, pneumatics, and complex mechanical mechanism design.
- Knowledge and experience with engineering bills of material (BOM) structure organization and usage.
- Field experience in installation and/or troubleshooting.
