Civil Engineer : $123,687.00 - $187,387.00 Annually (Non-Rep Payband E06).
Salary commensurate with experience and depending on position level which will be filled. Negotiable initial salary will be between $123,687.00 - $155,537.00.

Current Assignment
San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is seeking to fill a Civil Engineer position in the Civil Engineering Division within the Office of Infrastructure Delivery.
The scope of the Office of Infrastructure Delivery (OID) Civil Engineering Division includes initiation and support of maintenance and capital projects; Ownership and periodic revision of BART Civil Engineering design criteria, standard drawings and standard specifications; Asset Management of Civil Engineering related assets.
Specific requirements include :
Civil Engineering Asset Management encompasses the following District assets
- Parking lot pavement, related sidewalks and access roads
Stormwater systems (bioretention, inlets, permeable pavers)
Stairs and railings, doors (stations and facilities)
Roofs and gutters (stations and facilities)
Fences and gates
Permanent physical barriers
Fall protection on buildings
Signage (regulatory and wayside)
Underground utilities (gas, storm water, water and sewer)
Landscaping and irrigation
Support of Maintenance
Support requests for maintenance
Field assistance to Grounds and Facilities maintenance works
Code & Regulation Compliance
FTA requirements
CEQA (environmental) requirements
San Francisco Bay RWQCB (water board) requirements (NPDES, MS4 permits)
Projects & Permits
Preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for maintenance and capital projects
Technical reviews of Consultant project designs for conformance to BART standards
Plan check and Quality Control / Assurance reviews

Executive Management
Civil Engineers are expected to work independently on smaller, self-contained, well-defined projects. Engineers are expected to have detailed subject matter expertise in certain areas, and to act as consultants to others in their areas of expertise.
Ideal incumbents will demonstrate the following skills beyond the minimum qualifications :
Strong Engineering skills and experience.
Excellent problem-solving ability.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to make clear presentations, produce concise technical reports, and translate technical issues to business and operational perspectives
Experience in the development of Preventative / Predictive Maintenance processes and procedures to improve and sustain overall equipment reliability
Experience with data collection and analysis to document system and equipment performance and reliability testing
Ability to work successfully with multidisciplinary teams.
Willingness to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days at a time (in rotation with others), to work occasionally during overnight and weekend maintenance windows, and to work occasionally in noisy and dirty environments or in foul weather and in close proximity to moving trains.
Selection Process
Initial screening of applications will begin on January 2025.

The selection process for this position may include a skills / performance demonstration, a written examination, and a panel and / or individual interview.

Examples of Duties
Prepares engineering drawings, sketches, equipment specifications, calculations and analyses for new or proposed projects; develops design details.
Prepares preliminary engineering design cost estimates and other information for management and project board review.
Reviews approved project criteria for existing facilities; compiles, researches and analyzes data for modifications or extensions to existing facilities.
Assists in the establishment of schedules and methods for providing design support during construction; prepares construction and installation cost estimates.
Monitors project work procedures to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; evaluates proposed changes to approved plans and specifications.
Prepares a variety of drawings, reports and correspondence on assigned construction projects including field and design engineering changes, cost estimates, as?built drawings and related documentation.
Provides engineering design support to other divisions, District departments and outside agencies, and during construction projects.
As assigned, reviews construction in progress; performs a variety of field-testing duties; submits reports.
Utilizes a variety of engineering software programs and applications including CADD.
Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of civil engineering.
Minimum Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience :
Two (2) years of (full time verifiable) professional experience in civil engineering or related experience.
License or Certificate :
Registration as a professional engineer in the State of California.
Other Requirements :
Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and testing as assigned.
Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
Substitution :
Additional professional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the education on a year?for? year basis. A college degree is preferred.
