Part-Time Job Opportunity:
Qualifications:
High School graduate or equivalent and must be at least 17 years of age. Prefer candidates to have prior experience working with children and/or an interest in education or recreation as a possible career goal. Should have an outgoing personality with good interpersonal skills. CPR and First Aid is a plus.
Job Summary:
The Counselor is responsible for assisting the Day Camp Site Supervisor and/or Day Camp Coordinator, with the day-to-day planning, organizing, and implementing all aspects of the Day Camp, and supervision and safety of campers. This is an at-will position. Other duties and responsibilities include:
- Help the Site Supervisor develop weekly lesson plans to cover basic activities for the class.
- Interact with the children in both one on one and group activities.
- Assist in record keeping with sign-in/sign-out, Epact, taking attendance, collecting permission slips, keeping each child’s information sheet up to date, and filling out accident/incident reports as needed.
- Supervise campers on field trips and trips to the pool.
- Actively participate in pool rotation when at the pool.
- Actively participate with campers in pool activities when not scheduled to be on pool rotation.
- Assist in finding a substitute when ill or absent.
- Prepare for weekly art projects (cut out items, prepare paint, glue, etc.)
- Assist in keeping facility, supplies and equipment clean and safe by reporting breakage and safety problems. Assist in clean up and straightening up room before, during and after each session.
- Attend district-wide part-time staff orientations, crisis trainings and office staff trainings as directed.
- Comply with the District’s Dress Code by coming to work in clean, presentable clothing and wearing an employee name tag.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Schedule & Pay:
This is a part-time, seasonal position. We are looking to fill multiple positions: Monday - Friday 8:30AM - 3:30PM and Tuesday and Thursday 8:30AM - 3:30PM. We are also looking for subs to fill in when needed. Hiring range is between $15 - $16/hour, DOQ.
