JOB SUMMARY: The Swim Instructor is responsible for the safety and instruction of students in swimming at the appropriate level. Examples of duties include:
- Supervise at least 4 children at a time in your class.
- Teach the required skills correctly and enthusiastically.
- Communicate respectfully and politely with the parents of the students.
- Maintain a running attendance and evaluation on each student throughout the session.
- Complete a report card for each student at the end of the session.
- Complete all paperwork neatly and on time that is asked for by the coordinators.
- Aid in cleaning the facility at the end of swim lesson classes.
- Set up equipment before morning and evening lessons.
- Attend all scheduled in-service trainings and meetings.
- Be able to work all days of the scheduled sessions.
- Plan lessons to keep participants busy for the full 40 minutes.
- Walk the children to their parents after each lesson.
- Observe and follow all Park District safety policies and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 16 years of age. Requires strong people and customer service skills. Able to communicate effectively with staff and the public. Experience with children a plus. Swimming experience required.
SCHEDULE & PAY: This is a part-time, hourly position with flexible schedules on weekday evenings & weekend mornings. Hiring rate is between $15.00 - $16.00 per hour.
