General job duties.
Types of procedures required.
Med / Surg Nurses provide care for primarily adult patients before and after surgical procedures; they also attend to those who are being treated with pharmaceuticals to manage illness.
Med / Surg Nurses encounter a broad range of medical conditions.
Excellent nursing skills and top-notch organizational skills are required.
Job Requirements
2 years of experience depending on level of nursing needed.
Graduation from accredited Nursing Program.
Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse licensure (must meet education requirement(s) for Alaska State licensure).
Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR / AED for the Professional Rescuer certificate.
Schedule Information
Shifts are varied, typically 3 12 hour shifts 7am - 7 : 30pm, or 7 : 00pm to 7 : 30am, and on call night shifts.
Unit Specific Information
Bed size : 35
Nurse to patient ratio : 6 patients to 1 RN
Dress Code : need to wear your own set of scrubs. All colors are approved except for royal blue, forest green, and bright red.
