What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Custodian position at Barton Academy & Graded School?
LRUEMSD is seeking to hire a part-time custodian to join our team at Barton Graded School. We are looking for a dedicated team player to work collaboratively with our custodians, building principal and facilities director to meet the custodial needs of our building. This position is 5 hours a day Monday through Friday. We are looking for afternoon/evening hours during the school year. Summer hours may have more flexibility.
Custodial responsibilities include some of the following:
DAILY
Vacuum (with handheld or backpack vacuum), sweep, or dust mop floors
Wet mop floors
Clean & sanitize bathrooms
Clean sinks and sink areas
Clean paper towel holders, faucets, and mirrors, restock product as necessary
Empty baskets and take trash to garbage bin
Restock towel, soap, toilet, and tissue dispensers as needed.
Setup up and break down lunch room tables as needed
Wipe tables and other surfaces in classrooms if they are cleared of materials
Clean front walks (shoveling etc)
Be sure fire exists are clear
Before leaving at the end of the day, be sure windows are closed and locked.
WEEKLY
Wash cleaning rags, mop heads, and dust mop heads
Wash doors and door frames
AS NEEDED
Replace light bulbs
Assist with clearing walkways in absence of head custodian.
Report any needed repairs or other needs to the head custodian.
Assist head custodian with freshening of wax surface on floors if needed.
Dust for spider webs etc
Touch up painted surfaces
MONTHLY
Dust office area surfaces
Wash windows in office area
SCHOOL VACATIONS (DECEMBER, FEBRUARY, APRIL)
Wash and sanitize walls in bathrooms
Thoroughly mop floors (wax if needed)
Wash windows, both inside and outside (weather permitting)
Assist with other project based cleaning
SUMMER WORK
Assist with removing all movable objects from each room, strip the floor, apply finish
Wash windows inside and out
Clean and sanitize all bathrooms
Wash walls
Assist with painting where needed
Shampoo carpets
Complete maintenance list
OTHER
A courteous attitude toward the students, faculty, administration, fellow workers and
general public that frequent the building must be maintained.
A positive and cooperative attitude must be exhibited.
Language appropriate to the school setting will be used.
Set up and tear down school events as needed (i.e. assemblies, graduation, sporting events, concerts).
ANY OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AS DESIGNATED BY THE PRINCIPAL AND FACILITIES DIRECTOR.
