Barton and Gray Mariners Club has revolutionized yachting with a fleet of 80 Hinckley and custom vessels serving a private membership in harbors along the East Coast and Great Lakes. Our growing team is seeking a highly experienced and strategic accounting professional to assist with our accounting and finance functions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both accounting and financial management and analysis. The Senior Accountant will participate in all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial data. This role is pivotal in shaping the financial health of the organization and will work closely with the CFO to drive business strategy and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and inventory management.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
Assist with the month-end, quarterly, and year-end operations, ensuring completeness and accuracy of all financial data.
Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Oversee financial aspects of contracts, ensuring proper accounting and compliance with contract terms
Assist with audits and work closely with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and support.
Evaluate and improve accounting systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team, promoting professional development and continuous improvement
Ability to work in a changing environment. Identifying ways to improve processes and implement automation
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a senior accounting role
Advanced knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations
Proven experience managing complex accounting operations
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software (e.g., Quickbooks). Experience with Google Suite and Mac software is a plus.
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
