POSITION TITLE: School Resource Officer - for the 2025-2026 School Year - 203 Days
START DATE: July 7, 2025
JOB DESCRIPTION: Work closely with school administrators, media sources, and the local juvenile authorities in an effort to provide and maintain our schools as a safe haven conducive to learning. Investigate suspected crimes, report findings, and arrest suspected individuals. Direct and control traffic. Provide security for students by preventing criminal acts against students or their property. Participate in drug prevention programs. Build a rapport between youth and law enforcement.
Testify in court or legal proceedings. Must demonstrate prompt and regular attendance.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING: High school diploma required or equivalent. Must be POST certified and have five years of police experience. Must have a current driver's license.
SKILLS: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to maintain a successful relationship with co-workers and across departments within the school system. Ability to treat confidential information and sensitive situations with discretion. Must be able to work without constant supervision and direction and meet obligations with punctuality.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five (5) years of police experience required.
