Parts Counter Associate

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a Parts Store and/or Department, product knowledge and a passion for the heavy equipment, diesel and/or automotive industries. Qualified candidates will have experience with supporting a fast-paced Parts counter including parts identification, sales, orders, customer service and inventory management. Candidates will also be able to work effectively and independently in a courteous, timely and professional manner - providing exceptional service and facilitating high-quality repairs.

Pay: Starts at $22 - $25 per hour, depending on experience
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, Day Shift, with overtime as needed

Job Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to customers by assisting them in selecting the correct parts for their heavy equipment needs. Answer customer queries in a courteous and professional manner in person, via phone, or email. Keep the parts counter and store clean, presentable and welcoming to customers.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate warehouse inventory levels by ordering parts, conducting regular stock checks, and managing inventory records. Ensure the availability of commonly required parts and accessories.
- Sales and Promotion: Promote sales of parts and accessories. Inform customers about ongoing promotions or new products. Process sales transactions efficiently.
- Parts Identification and Sourcing: Utilize catalogs, computer databases, and other resources to identify and locate required parts. Source parts from suppliers if not available in stock.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of sales, orders, and customer interactions. Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in the dealership's database.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the service department to ensure timely availability of parts for repairs and maintenance. Maintain positive working relationships and facilitate effective communication (verbal and written) with team members, other departments and vendors.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all parts meet quality standards and specifications. Handle returns or exchanges as per dealership policies.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a parts store and/or department required. Experience in a heavy equipment, diesel, automotive, agriculture, aircraft, marine or similar setting preferred.
- Technical aptitude required. Product knowledge is a plus but product training will be provided (including manufacturer training).
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in inventory management and basic computer applications
- Excellent customer service, communication and listening skills
- Motivated and committed to doing the right thing for our customers
- Ability to multi-task and effectively problem solve
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
Work Environment
- Involves on-site work primarily at the Parts counter, as well as in the Parts Department, store/retail area and in the warehouse
- Will collaborate and communicate with service technicians and other team members to resolve technical issues and address customer concerns
- Exposure to heavy equipment including operation of a forklift in the warehouse
Physical & Mental Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to safely operate a forklift and /or other equipment (training provided)
- Perform extensive standing, walking, bending, stooping and use of hands
- Frequent talking and hearing
- Effectively work with computer programs, scanners and other devices
- Effectively read, understand and utilize technical manuals
- Effectively apply established protocols in a timely manner
