Description
Our small IT group is in need of a network generalist who has 7 years server administration experience required. Our current environment includes Windows server 2003, VMWare 4.0, and BackupExec. The successful candidate will configure and support our network infrastructure, problem resolution and support of a wide variety of daily tasks including new systems acquisition/installation, applications/operations support, systems performance monitoring, daily server backups and systems security administration for over 200 users.
Responsibilities:
- Work efficiently and accurately. Take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibility for completing them within established deadlines.
- Provide extensive professional interaction with the user community; with technical and non-technical audiences; both verbally and written.
- Hands on administration of data center including: VMWare, Windows Server, BackupExec, Cisco switches, firewall and wireless; MS SQL server, group policies;
- Design, install, configure, and support an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and internet systems
- Perform regular backup and disaster recovery procedures using Veeam backup and replication
- Maintain network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other equipment
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues
- Collaborate with IT team members to optimize network usage and security
- Implement security measures to protect the network
- Coordinate vendor support when necessary including documentation and billing
- Open and close service requests, as well as manage the classification, assignment, tracking, and completion of requests.
- Help identify and implement innovative solutions for customers.
- Ability and willingness to work extended hours or a modified schedule to support planned activities or emergency situations.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- A minimum of 7 years of practical IT work experience in network administration support role (preferably in a manufacturing environment)
- 7 years administration of Windows 2003 server or above; Exchange 2003; Backup Exec
- 5 years administration of Cisco switches, firewalls and centralized wireless;
- 2 years administration of VMWare; company cell phone management
- Able to work independently and as a team member. Occasional travel (as needed)
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks among many competing requests
- Excellent communication skills and follow up
- Commitment to documenting problems, changes to hardware configurations and operating procedures, and following documented procedures is critical
