ASSOCIATE MECHANICAL ENGINEER - SOLIDWORKS SPECIALIST

The preferred location for this position is Frederick, MD; however, it may also be based in Baton Rouge, LA or O'Fallon, MO.

We provide solutions to the Department of Defense (DoD) and Aerospace markets across various disciplines. Our BH Tech division currently provides products and services across four product lines: Advanced Systems, RF Front Ends, Mixed Signal and Digital Solutions. 

 Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer with strong expertise in SolidWorks to join our team in the defense industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical components and systems that meet rigorous industry standards. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects that support national security and defense objectives.

Responsibilities:

•  Design and Modeling: Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks for mechanical components and systems.
• Prototyping and Testing: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to prototype and validate designs through rigorous testing and iterative improvements.
• Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, design changes, and reports, ensuring compliance with industry and company standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical, systems, and software engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into broader systems.
• Compliance: Ensure designs adhere to applicable defense industry regulations, standards, and customer specifications.
• Innovation: Contribute to the development of innovative solutions to meet challenging design requirements and improve existing products.
• Project Management: Manage timelines and resources effectively to meet project milestones and deliverables.
• (Occasional) Analysis and Simulation: Perform FEA, CFD, and other simulations to ensure designs meet structural, thermal, and operational requirements.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• U.S. Citizenship: required
• Experience:
  1. 3 years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on SolidWorks.
  2. Experience in the defense industry or a related high-precision, regulated field is highly desirable.
• Technical Skills:
  1. Proficient in SolidWorks
  2. Proficient with SolidWorks PDM 
  3. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  4. Understanding of materials science and manufacturing processes
  5. [Preferred] Experience with military standards (MIL-STD) and defense contracting requirements.
