What are the responsibilities and job description for the Computer Aided Design Designer position at Bascom Hunter?
Bascom Hunter designs, develops, and manufacturers environmental control systems and components for the aerospace and defense industry. The Mechanical Designer role supports product design, development, manufacturing, and research and development.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Supporting the wider Engineering team by preparing high-quality drawings and bill of materials using CAD software
- Using your knowledge and expertise to provide solutions to a variety of technical inquiries
- Delivering all drawings according to an agreed-upon timeline, cost estimate and all relevant quality standards
- Ensuring accurate application and implementation of standard processes and tools in the preparation of accurate drawings
- Other duties as assigned by Engineering Manager
Qualifications:
- Candidate must be a US Citizen.
- Experience designing / drafting mechanical components and assemblies in CAD
- Ability to read and interpret detailed customer drawings
- Thorough understanding of common manufacturing and joining processes for metal, plastic, and composite parts
- Thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing along with ASME Y14.5 (2009 or newer)
- Thorough understanding of CAD software and PDM vaults
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Preference for candidates with Solidworks experience
- Preference for candidate with working knowledge of aerospace specifications and standards
- Preference for associate degree in drafting or mechanical design
- Position is 100% onsite.
