We are seeking a talented and motivated Associate Level Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the design and testing of electrical systems that are included in our Vapor Cycle Systems for defense applications. These systems range from motor drives for our fans and compressors to electronic control units. Bascom Hunter provides solutions to the Department of Defense (DoD) and Aerospace markets across various disciplines. Our Xcelaero division currently provides products and services that focus on Vapor Cycle Systems and associated subassemblies such as fans, electronic valves, motors, electronic control units and motor drives.
Responsibilities:
- Electrical component design: Assist in the design and development of motor drives, valve controllers, electronic control units and associated wire harnesses for defense applications.
- Testing and Characterization: Support the testing and characterization of components using power supplies, power analyzers oscilloscopes, and signal generators.
- Prototype Development: Participate in the prototyping and assembly of Vapor cycle systems for evaluation and testing purposes.
- Documentation: Create and maintain accurate documentation, including schematics, layout files, test plans, and reports, for PCB designs and testing activities.
- Software Tools: Ability to work with MATLAB, Simulink, Altium and SolidWorks Electrical to facilitate the design of electrical components.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to ensure successful project execution.
- Problem Solving: Identify and troubleshoot issues during design, testing, and integration phases, proposing and implementing effective solutions.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in engineering and defense-related technologies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 0-5 years of relevant experience in electrical design and testing, preferably in the defense industry (internships or co-op experience will be considered).
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including power electronics.
- Experience with laboratory equipment and test instrumentation for measurements and analysis.
- Familiarity with PCB layout techniques and circuit fabrication processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Eligibility for security clearance may be required.
- Positions are 100% on-site.
