We are currently seeking a Bilingual Payroll Clerk to join our Payroll Team.
Job Summary:
The Payroll Clerk is responsible for processing payroll for all employees. This role ensures that all pay is calculated accurately, all deductions are applied, and taxes are withheld as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing:
- Collect timecards, job reports, and attendance data.
- Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
- Verify and ensure accuracy of employee hours worked, overtime, and vacation/sick leave.
- Ensure proper allocation of labor costs.
- Deductions and Benefits:
- Administer deductions for taxes, benefits, union dues, garnishments, and other withholdings.
- Ensure compliance with prevailing wage rates and government regulations.
- Employee Communication:
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, such as pay discrepancies, benefits, and deductions.
- Assist in resolving payroll-related concerns in a timely manner.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, including payroll tax filings and reporting.
- Prepare and file payroll reports, including tax filings, workers' compensation reports, and other documentation as required.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, including electronic records and paper files, for auditing and legal purposes.
- Software and Systems:
- Use payroll software to input data and generate reports.
- Maintain and update employee records in the payroll system.
- Additional Tasks:
- Process expense reports, reimbursements, and other payroll-related requests.
- Assist with year-end payroll processing and preparing for audits.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in payroll processing, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems, labor laws, and regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and payroll software.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
