Job Summary:

As a Counselor, you will be instrumental in guiding individuals on their recovery journey. You’ll work closely with clients to assess their needs, develop personalized treatment plans, and provide ongoing support. Your ultimate goal will be to help clients achieve and maintain sobriety, improve their overall well-being, and reintegrate into their communities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support Basecamp’s mission by actively participating in team meetings, collaborative treatment planning, and professional development opportunities.
• Deliver high-quality substance use and mental health services in individual and group settings, in alignment with best practices and agency policies.
• Stay informed on current research, treatment advancements, and evidence-based practices in substance use disorder treatment.
• Maintain a caseload of individual clients, assessing for risk and responding effectively to crises, relapses, or mental health concerns.
• Conduct comprehensive intake assessments, utilizing standardized tools to understand each client’s substance use history and overall needs.
• Provide educational and prevention services to clients and community organizations as directed by the Clinical Director.
• Ensure accurate, confidential documentation of client interactions, treatment plans, progress notes, and group sessions.
• Assist with coverage for other counselors during absences to ensure uninterrupted client care.
• Act as a liaison between Basecamp Recovery Center and community organizations to connect clients with additional resources.
• Availability for evening and weekend hours as needed to accommodate client needs and program schedules.

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google Drive
• Strong decision-making and crisis intervention skills
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
• Ability to connect and communicate with individuals from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds
• Strong understanding of addiction, recovery processes, and evidence-based treatment methods
• Compassionate, non-judgmental, and patient-centered approach

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field
• Valid Ohio licensure (LCDC II, LCDC III, LSW, LISW, LPC, LICDC, etc.)
• Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders (preferred)
