Job Summary:
As a Counselor, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals through their recovery journey. You will work closely with clients to assess their needs, develop personalized treatment plans, and provide ongoing support and guidance. Your goal will be to help clients achieve and maintain sobriety, improve their overall well-being, and reintegrate into their communities.
Job Duties/Key Responsibilities:
- Upholds the Mission Statement of Basecamp Recovery Center, and participates in daily morning huddle meetings, general meetings, collaborative treatment team meetings, and management meetings as scheduled. Relates professionally and effectively to and maintains professional relationships with all clients and staff. Complies with all agency policies and procedures including client rights, safety rules and regulations, the agency code of ethics, and all applicable state and local rules. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Provides quality substance use/abuse and mental health services to clients on an individual, and group basis in compliance with the agency’s policies and procedures. Stay updated on current research, best practices, and advancements in substance use disorder treatment.
- Participate in continuing education, training, and supervision to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
- Maintains a caseload of individual clients as assigned. Continually observes and evaluates clients for risk of lethality. Respond promptly and effectively to clients experiencing crises or emergencies, including potential relapses or mental health issues.
- Conduct comprehensive Intake Assessments for new clients seeking services. Conduct thorough assessments of clients to understand their substance use history, mental health status, and overall needs. Utilize standardized assessment tools and clinical interviews to develop a comprehensive understanding of each client's situation.
- Provide prevention, consultation and educational services to clients and to community organizations as assigned by the Clinical Director.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely records of client interactions, treatment plans, group notes, progress notes, and all other documentation.
- Assumes the caseload of other counselor(s) during emergencies, illness, and vacations as requested by the Clinical Director.
- Utilizes knowledge of community resources to serve as liaison and establishes linkages between Basecamp Recovery Center and other agencies and community groups to ensure the needs of Basecamp Recovery Center clients are addressed.
- Some weekend and evening hours are required to accommodate clients’ needs and the program schedule
- Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Drive
- Strong decision making skills as well as crisis intervention skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Strong oral/written communication skills
- Problem/conflict resolution skills
- Ability to relate and communicate with a broad socio-economic cross-section of individuals
- Strong understanding of addiction, recovery processes, and evidence-based treatment methods.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
- Compassionate, non-judgmental, and patient demeanor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
- Valid state licensure as a Counselor or Social Worker (LCDC II, LCDC III, LSW, LISW, LPC, LICDC etc.).
- Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders is preferred.
