Title : Special Education Instructional Facilitator
Reports to : Building Principal
Position Summary : The special education teacher creates a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students through rich learning experiences, case studies, and a variety of primary and secondary source documents.
Qualifications : Required :
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education Services
- Currently hold or be eligible for a Kansas certificate in at least one area of special education
- Demonstrated knowledge of methods of effective instruction
- Desire and ability to work with students and staff
- A willingness to cooperate with and follow the directions of the school principal
- The ability and willingness to communicate with parents
- Ability to plan, organize, and see that activities are completed
- Proficient in data collection and reporting
- Excellent written and oral skills
- Proficient in Microsoft and Google applications
Preferred :
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a related fieldValid Teaching Certificate with applicable level area endorsements5 years of directly related verifiable experience in Special Education servicesEssential Functions :

Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment for learningCommunicates with parents and counselors on a student's progressParticipates in curriculum and other developmental programsParticipates in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activitiesMaintains professional competence through in-service education provided by the district, and in self-selected professional growth activities related to special education servicesEnsures that all activities conform to district guidelinesCommunicates effectively with all members of the school district and communityWorks effectively with community organizationsReacts to change productively and handles other tasks as assignedSupports the value of educationSupports the mission and vision of USD #458Keeps abreast of new information, best practices, innovative ideas, and techniquesAdheres to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control PlanOther duties as assigned by the Principal, Director of Special Education or other Administrative StaffPhysical Requirements : Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in the work environment. Regular attendance and / or physical presence at the job is required.
