What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Service Specialist - Automotive OEM (Paint Pretreatment) position at BASF Corporation?
The Technical Service Specialist will be an onsite representative that leads and coordinates all technical, purchasing, inventory, projects and reporting activities for their site, and will respond to customer needs and complaints.
This individual will work onsite at our customers site located in Vance, AL.
Formula for Success:
- Completion of all work with a commitment & focus on following all aspects of the guiding principles of BASF Responsible Care.
- Collects data and issues designated reports (i.e., Daily, monthly).
- Ensure performance of the chemicals by recommending and implementing actions to improve productivity, increase effectiveness, and reduce costs.
- Responds to customer requests regarding products, projects, information, and other inquiries.
- Manage on site inventories and ensure timely ordering of products to avoid negatively impacting production.
- Review process performance with the customer and operators to improve efficiency, increase effectiveness, and reduce cost.
- Develops, trains, monitors, and motivates operators, while playing a key role in meeting all chemical treatment program goals.
Ingredients for Success:
- BS Degree preferred (Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Engineering)
- Understands the chemical process.
- Minimum of 2 years of technical experience required.
- Technical expertise regarding products, specifications, processes, operations, testing, and data collection.
- Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical experience for testing and technical evaluation.
- Strong inventory management/control and product ordering skills.
- Relationship management, building and strengthening relationships with customer's technical department.
- Learn and understand Chemetall product portfolio.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
