BASF-Chemetall is the Surface Treatment global business unit of BASF’s Coatings division, operating under the Chemetall brand, and a leading supplier of applied surface treatments worldwide.
We develop and manufacture tailor-made technology and system solutions for applied surface technology. Our products protect metals from corrosion, facilitate forming and treatment, prepare parts optimally for the painting process and ensure excellent coating adhesion. Our technologies and products are used in a variety of industries and end markets such as automotive, aerospace, aluminum finishing and metal forming.
The chemical treatment of metal surfaces is BASF-Chemetall core competence. The focus of our worldwide activities is on the development and implementation of customized technology and system solutions for surface treatment
Program Summary:
We offer chemical engineering students the opportunity to experience a 6-month Co-op Program working at our North American BASF-Chemetal Headquarters in New Providence, NJ.
Co-ops will participate in various projects which will provide the opportunity to further develop both technical and professional skills. These practical and meaningful assignments will give an opportunity to apply what they've learned in school.
The opportunity to be challenged and contribute to a real-world project that will enhance your development, sharpening your skills for post-graduation. Additionally, this is a great opportunity to join our Talent Pipeline for consideration of future opportunities within the organization after graduation. We provide a supportive environment that develops your expertise and supports the expansion of your network.
Project areas will include: Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and Lab Operations.

- You will work a 40 hour workweek within the lab onsite at our New Providence, NJ office.
