We are looking for a Regional Product Manager to join our Intermediates (CI) team in Florham Park, NJ, or Houston, TX.

With more than 600 products in its portfolio, in particular amines, diols, polyalcohols, acids and specialties, the Intermediates division offers innovative solutions for a wide range of industries – from coatings and plastics to pharmaceuticals and crop protection.

As a Product Manager you will be accountable for the strategic and operational portfolio management of key products Butanediol (BDO) and derivatives (GBL, NMP) as well as Acetylene, and by-products portion of the CIB business within the Intermediates Division. Being responsible for a >$150M business with portions that is expected to grow at a rate of >10% per year. The business will be supported by North American production in Geismar, LA. Working as key interface to the organization’s functional resources as well as other business units, you will be accountable for achieving the regional SBU and product line targets. Teaming with global and regional marketing colleagues to develop, shape and implement marketing strategies, the role must interact regularly with colleagues in Europe, Asia, and South America.

This position will also include some account interactions, managing interactions with a few larger customers and consistently driving to find new business opportunities and strive to support organic growth targets. The role may require traveling 15% of the time.

As a Regional Product Manager, you create chemistry by...

  • Implementing strategy, driving financial performance, and setting operational priorities including tactical implementation of pricing models, portfolio management, and capital planning.
  • Driving financial performance (P&L) management, pricing development, customer/product portfolio management, development of working capital plans and fixed cost optimization.
  • Being responsible for product pricing and margin management, i.e. pricing strategy, applied pricing models, costs analysis, financial forecasting (including budget planning).
  • Understanding the regional market structure’s economics, growth, trends, opportunities, value chain, customers and competitive environment.
  • Developing, implementing, and managing regional commercial strategies for product portfolio; i.e. product positioning and business plan development and execution.
  • Guiding the sales force relative to product pricing and positioning, contract negotiations, competitive/market information, crisis management, customer/product action plans, and customer communications to align with the business/product strategies.
  • Driving continuous improvements of cost, production, quality, supply chain, and service levels focused on competitiveness, financial performance, and operational excellence.
  • Effectively collaborating across the organization, working with the Customer Care, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales and Distribution, Procurement, R&D, and Regulatory organizations to successfully deliver business plan targets.
  • Coordinating with global counterparts to ensure margins are optimized on a global basis.
  • Following up on new leads and opportunities, prioritizing projects and commercializing projects to bring new sales each year, in some instances, working directly with customers.

If you...

  • Hold a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Business or close related field.
  • Bring 3 to 5 year’s experience in Product Management. Additional Sales and Marketing experience is a plus.
  • Have a solid business and financial acumen, as well a deep knowledge of value chains and project coordination in markets served by the chemical industry.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, such as negotiation, influencing, presentation, reporting, and relationship building.
