Transportation & 3PL Manager - Charlotte, NC
As a member of the EDN Supply Chain leadership, you will be essential to both daily operational success and our strategic initiatives. This role will direct a team of supply chain analysts and leverage multiple internal and 3rd party service platforms to ensure operational and business success. The role spans truck, rail, and marine modes of transportation plus internal and 3rd party vendor services (warehouses, terminals, transloaders, etc.) for our North America business with multiple production facilities in North America and imports/exports with BASF affiliates and customers globally.
The Transportation and Distribution team’s primary responsibility is to ensure logistics services are aligned with cost targets as required to satisfy our operational and customer requirements. This success is ensured through distribution network setup and planning, service level agreements, budgeting and cost management, and business alignment.
As the leader, you have responsibility to identify and implement strategic change relative to network optimization, vendor selection and management, digitalization, process changes and team skill development. The Manager’s leadership is critical to facilitate a Continuous Improvement approach to our activities and ultimately impact our Customer Experience success.
Formula for Success:
Leveraging your education in Supply Chain, Logistics, IT/IS, Engineering, or related field, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Transportation and Distribution team to enable business performance and operational success.
Delivering experience and knowledge with logistics planning and operations, you will ensure the success of our service level expectations, supply reliability and contingencies strategies, and adherence to cost targets while utilizing SAP ERP, Cost Management and Analytical tools (PowerBI), and supplemental informational/transactional systems.
Through a strong strategic focus and relationship management skills, you will work cross-functionally with operations, commercial leadership, sales, controlling, and service platforms to assess and propose strategic process changes and/or asset investments which ensure our supply capabilities and reliability relative to capacity management, safety, vendor operations, business continuity and growth initiatives.
Develop and adhere to a Continuous Improvement mindset and principles supported through analytics, reporting and analysis to drive improvements in supply chain processes, capabilities, flexibility, reliability, and financial performance (i.e. Asset Effectiveness, DR, NCMs, Working Capital, Costs).
Acting as a driver for change, you will identify and implement initiatives aligned with our digital roadmap and strategy to improve our process and team effectiveness and efficiency. This includes implementation and value extraction from systems such as SAP ERP, OMP Integrated Planning and network modeling, logistics track/trace systems, process mining and Power Apps systems.
Demonstrating your leadership, you will play a critical role in people & team development by establishing an inclusive and high-performance team culture through the setting of targets and objectives, providing coaching and feedback, encouraging team input and innovation, supporting skill and knowledge building, and motivating talent to reach their full potential

What we Look for in You:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with 5 years of Supply Chain experience or 10 years Transportation industry equivalent experience.
Experience
- Supply Chain experience in a transportation environment
- Transportation experience in over the road transportation services; FTL, LTL and Bulk
- Transportation related strategy design and implementation
