What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabric Manager position at Basic Resources, Inc.?
The Fabric Manager will support our growing intimates business through facilitating and executing the brand’s vision by sourcing fabrics within the seasonal calendar. They will also establish and maintain the core fabric standard library and ensure that all fabric is aligned with sourcing allocation and cost strategy. In addition to maintaining vendor relationships, the Fabric Manager will research according to supplier capabilities and the market.
Responsibilities:
- Assess BR Intimates fabric vendor fabric capabilities and potential to understand its core competencies and its core regional supply base by using their understanding of materials for intimates category and seamless
- Attend key milestone meetings with Design, Sales, Sourcing, Production, and Marketing to gain insight for the upcoming seasonal development and direction
- Keep the Sourcing Director and business leads abreast of development status and gain support in establishing target costing on fabrics
- Act as liaison between Design, Product Development, Sales, Sourcing, Merchandising, and vendors to technically guide during development to achieve desired fabric performance
- Communicate and execute new development/counter with existing vendor base potential suppliers to achieve technical (fit and or performance) needs and cost-viable options for current and future seasons
- Manage development deadlines outlined by corporate calendar and new initiatives
- Provide preliminary (pre)costing feedback to Sourcing and before proceeding with actual development
- Re-group and collaborate with Design and Sales in cost engineering fabric, as necessary, to meet target costs
- Troubleshoot potential issues with fabrics during the development stage and identify solutions for bulk production
- Maintain RMS (Raw Material Sheet) with fabric performance testing and results
- Coordinate with quality testing manager to identify acceptable parameters on test results
- Maintain an ongoing development chart to provide the sourcing team with project status/progress and highlight priorities for the season
- Maintain the physical Fabric library
- Support the Sustainability effort across all brands to enable and offer yarn and fabric requirements needed for technical and marketing callouts
- Support the Sourcing Director with special projects as needed
Qualifications:
- 10 years textile R&D background and a complete understanding of the production life cycle
- Technical understanding and knowledge of garment construction, raw material, and manufacturing process
- Costing background preferred
- Experience with intimates and/or seamless categories a plus
- Strong Excel skills (ex. pivot tables)
- PLM and SAP-related experience a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Priority planning, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
- Strong negotiating skills
- Openness to adapting to evolving business demands
Annual salary range is starting at $100,000
