The Basilica School of Saint Mary in Alexandria, VA, is hiring an Extended Day Sports Instructor for our after-school Extended Day Program for the 2024-2025 school year. This part-time role is ideal for someone passionate about youth development and providing a safe, engaging space for K-5 students.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday, between 3:00 pm and 6: 00 pm, with flexible days available
Job Summary:
The Sports Instructor is responsible for planning and leading an engaging, supportive Extended Day group for K-5 youth. This role includes organizing educational exercises, recreational activities, and team-building exercises
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and lead learning, recreational, and sports activities for students
- Direct and collaborate with other staff
- Complete required documentation.
- Participate in ongoing training and staff development.
- Prepare and submit sequenced lesson plans.
- Use effective classroom management skills to ensure a safe, supportive environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support program goals.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High School Diploma or GED required; some college coursework is preferred.
- Experience working with youth.
- Ability to lead group sports and recreation activities.
- Experience developing lesson plans or integrated learning projects.
- Strong commitment to a strength-based, youth-development approach.
- Must complete required VDOE and VDSS clearances.
