The Group Sales Manager is responsible for generating group, banquet, catering, and ancillary sales for Basin Harbor Resort. Works closely with the Director of Sales and Marketing, Group Event Coordinator, Banquet Manager, and other team members to drive profitable group programs which complements currently existing business for the resort.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Foster relationships with former Basin Harbor clients and overall accounts, as well as generate new contacts to grow the resort’s portfolio of business
- Proactively research, network, and solicit for groups, retreats, and conferences which will stay for multiple nights and spend ancillary revenue, taking advantage of the resort’s many offerings
- Travel as necessary to meet in person with prospects and clients, conducting sales calls and making presentations to promote the Resort
- Develop a trade show and conference program to ensure Basin Harbor is well known throughout the region as a premier destination for group programs
- Conduct FAMs (Familiarization Tours) for the right group prospects for the resort
- Become an active member with the appropriate hospitality organizations to build relationships with the prospective clients, as well as with industry colleagues
- Research and determine the best opportunities to pursue across all segments and marketing including bus tours, generational travel, group intermediaries, etc
- Develop and maintain accounts to build group business, particularly mid-week, layering on programs throughout the season where additional occupancy is needed to attain revenue optimization
- Generate proposals and presentation materials to secure groups
- Become a problem-solver and trusted advisor to the clients of Basin Harbor
- Responsible for negotiating and contracting new business
- Follow up on leads in a timely manner in an effort to create new and repeat business
- Work with Group Event Coordinator and Banquet Manager by confirming details such as menu selection, room set up, and program timelines that were discussed in the contracting process
- Assist in creation of floor plans with accurate lay out of event including all details and BEO requirements as necessary
- Develop aggressive long and short-range sales objectives and assist with promotional programs based on sales projections and historical accomplishments
- Work closely with Revenue Management daily to secure rate quotes for prospective clients
- Collaborate with the Culinary team and Beverage department to ensure understanding of menu items and products, special requests, dietary restrictions, food and beverage service
- Work closely with Food & Beverage department to set expectations for display and client-facing culinary elements
- Interact closely with the Director of Sales and Marketing to discuss challenges and opportunities throughout the selling processes
- Attend Daily Business Review meetings with the sales team to discuss new opportunities, potential group displacement of other revenues, and determine viability of business for the resort
Essential Qualifications and Competencies:
- 2 years of experience in hospitality and/or sales, preferably in a luxury resort or similar environment
- College degree in Hospitality, Marketing, or Business Administration, or equivalent experience in the hospitality industry
- Ability to prioritize, adapt, and work independently as well as part of a team
- Extremely strong customer service skill set with experience responding to high level demand customer base
- Strong technical and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of Delphi, Salesforce, Host and other catering/hotel booking software is ideal
- Demonstrated proficiency and accuracy in using MS Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Professional representation of self and property are essential, with a strong commitment to outstanding customer service
- Some nights and weekend hours required depending on event bookings, site visits, client meetings, and business demands.
- Ability to consistently display courtesy, etiquette, and enthusiasm on the phone and in person
- Ability to maintain comprehensive records and work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
- Available to work a flexible schedule that will include days, nights, weekends and holidays as dictated by the events calendar and seasonal changes
- Punctual and highly reliable
- Have the stamina to work up to 10 hours: sitting, standing and walking
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift up to 25lbs, reach overhead and perform repetitive motion
- May involve walking between function spaces and climbing stairs between floors
