Position Summary: The Check-In /Out Receptionist with primary as receptionist cross trained for check out- responsible for greeting patients as they check-in and out and offer them friendly and prompt assistance while coordinating the patients care. Insurance knowledge needed for proper entry of insurance information and verification. The Check-Out Receptionist will review the provider’s orders to determine the necessary treatment plan. At checkout follow up appointments are scheduled with the patient. Either appointments are scheduled or arrangements are made for diagnostic testing. Dictations are sent to the referring and primary care doctors and the clinical summaries are exported at check-out. Insurance knowledge a MUST to be able to check eligibility and verify benefits. Multi-tasking necessary skill as there are still phone calls/confirmations and other ancillary duties needed while checking in/out patients. Phone skills are necessary as well as customer service skills. Primary responsibility will be FMLA/medical records and appointments but will be required to cover other positions when necessary. Should be versed in insurance verifications and will be responsible for DME/med records and VA referrals.
Summary of General Duties: Check out patients and complete the patient tracking in the EMR. Schedule patient appointments within operational standards and documents appropriately. Confirm appointments. Schedule referrals; verify insurances, VA referrals, and medical record requests.
Answer phones and resolve patient issues in a timely manner.
Position Requirements: High School education or GED equivalent. Minimum one-two years of medical office experience. Working knowledge of general office duties. Working knowledge of contracted insurance plans. Good verbal and written communication skills. Good telephone skills. Demonstrated ability to use a computer with Microsoft Word, Outlook and EMR software. Excellent customer service skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task. Ability to maintain confidentiality and thorough knowledge of HIPAA policies and procedures.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
