BASIS.ed is seeking a Special Education Intervention Specialist whose primary responsibility will be to assist with the schools special education program, with a specialized focus on providing dyslexia instruction and interventions. Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in ensuring full compliance with federal and state regulations for students with disabilities (IDEA, Section 504, ADA), with a focus on dyslexia services
- Implement dyslexia-specific interventions and evidence-based reading instruction tailored to student needs
- Conduct and interpret dyslexia screenings and assessments to identify at-risk students and guide instructional planning
- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans for students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities
- Facilitate the development and implementation of academic and behavioral intervention programs for individual students
- Collaborate with general education teachers to provide accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies for students with dyslexia
- Provide direct special education services as needed and assist with itinerant service provider coordination
- Prepare and report accurate and timely data for internal and external regulatory purposes
- Monitor progress through regular progress monitoring and data collection to ensure student growth and plan adjustments as needed
- Deliver training and professional development for school staff on dyslexia awareness, interventions, and compliance best practices
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree
- Valid fingerprint clearance
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to support staff, students, and families
- Ability to interpret and utilize assessment data to inform instruction and intervention decisions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in a dyslexia intervention program (e.g., Certified Dyslexia Specialist or similar)
- Experience supporting special education or dyslexia services in a school setting
- Familiarity with progress monitoring tools and data-driven decision making
- Experience with dyslexia identification, intervention, and instruction (e.g., Reading by Design, Wilson Reading System, or similar programs)
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to Special Education, Section 504, and dyslexia services
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Reading Education, or a related field
