BASIS Plano is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our bright, passionate team!
Position Summary
The Special Education Teacher is responsible for overseeing and delivering instructional services aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities. This includes providing direct special education services, collaborating with general education teachers and service providers, and ensuring compliance with federal and state special education requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide direct special education services in small groups or one-on-one settings to meet IEP goals.
- Participate in IEP meetings and ensure timely compliance with all special education regulations.
- Develop and implement academic and behavioral intervention plans for students.
- Write, develop, and update IEPs, ensuring alignment with student needs, state regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to implement accommodations and modifications.
- Collect and report progress on IEP goals and maintain student data documentation.
- Coordinate itinerant service providers, including scheduling student services and meetings.
- Assist in the special education evaluation process, including initial assessments and reevaluations.
- Provide case management for students, including communication with families and staff.
- Support general education classroom teachers with differentiated instruction strategies and inclusive practices.
- Ensure student records are maintained with confidentiality and accuracy.
- Prepare data for internal and external reporting requirements.
- Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors degree.
Valid Texas Special Education certification.
Valid fingerprint clearance per Texas state regulations.
Eligible for hire in Texas Public Schools
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in special education or a related field.
Experience working in a special education setting (1 years preferred).
Certification in CPI or TACT-2 for crisis intervention.
Knowledge of IEP management systems such as ESPED or similar.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and student data management systems.
