Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Prepare patients for examination including taking vital signs, obtaining complete medical histories, and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Pre-visit planning such as obtaining vital past records including imaging CDs, reports, and labs so they are scanned and available during patient visit
- Draw medications, prepare and assist with ultrasound-guided procedures and examinations
- Draw blood
- Educate patients on post-appointment care and follow-up appointments
- Other duties as assigned
Clinical Support:
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment
- Manage medical supplies, inventory, stocking rooms
- Complete paperwork and other duties as assigned
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments and manage medical records and patient messages
- Answer phones, greet patients, and provide excellent customer service
- Handle insurance authorizations and follow through
- Assist with data entry, scanning, and other administrative tasks as needed
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- At least 2-3 years of verifiable practical Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
- In-depth understanding of referral authorizations process and requirements
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to work independently
- Comfortable with venipuncture (phlebotomy/blood draw)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Accredited Medical Assistant certification
- Experience in pulmonary medicine
- Billingual (Spanish)
- Strong proficiency in EPIC electronic health record (EHR) system.
