What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Analyst position at Bass Pro, LLC?
This position will conduct research, analysis and provide recommendations for component cost reviews, commodity tracking and forward buy opportunities. Expected to champion cost reduction strategies for White River Marine Group.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Analyze spend categories and part price variances to identify outliers and cost reduction opportunities.
- Monitor and analyze economic indicators, identify market trends, and provide clear data driven recommendations for procurement decision-making.
- Develop and prepare reports or other exhibits to support business initiatives.
- Report on supplier performance and financial health.
- Prepare analysis to support raw material forward buy or hedge opportunities.
- Prepare make vs buy evaluations.
- Create should-cost models.
- Participate in various project teams and department initiatives.
- All other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline, or equivalent related work experience
- Strong financial acumen
- Strong analytical skills, proficient in data mining and forecasting model development
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Experience with business intelligence or cloud services such as Power BI, Domo, Snowflake etc
- Experience or desire to learn programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, etc
- Experience with cost modeling software
- Ability to collaborate and develop effective business relationships at all levels of an organization
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize within a fast-paced environment
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Comprehensive proficiency in Excel, with the ability to quickly learn other business systems
- Ability to meet deadlines while delivering quality results; accuracy is a must
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Less than 10% travel
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly performs computer work and sits.
- Occasionally walks and stands.
- Seldom/never lifts up to 50lbs.
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
- Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
