What are the responsibilities and job description for the Demand Planner position at Bass Pro Shops?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Demand Planner is responsible for demand forecasting and business analysis activities. This person will serve as a link between merchandising and supply chain to ensure alignment between plans.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops and maintains promotional demand forecasts down to item level.
- Develop and maintain new items and base demand for existing items.
- Reviews tactical demand trends and adjusts forecast inputs and outputs as needed.
- Collaborates during consensus demand meetings with cross-functional partners to ensure alignment on forecasts.
- Resolves accurate forecasts for replenishment, promotional sales, new item forecasting and planning and for the forecast accuracy for assigned categories.
- Recognizes trends or patterns and adjusting forecasts as necessary.
- ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or similar
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in Demand Planning or similar role with emphasis on data analysis.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
- Working knowledge of the following areas desirable: business principles, supply chain processes, Microsoft Access and Excel, DOMO, SQL, VBA, and other applicable software applications.
- Must be highly organized and have strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent problem solving, quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
- Adaptable, resourceful and forward thinking

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regular computer work, and sitting
- Occasional walking, standing, and lifting up to 50lbs
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
- Develops objectives and general policies and procedures for a specific program or functional area of responsibility within general scope of established operational goals and plans. Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by supervisor.
