What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Mixologist position at Bass Pro Shops?
POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide exceptional service, crafting innovative cocktails in a welcoming atmosphere and providing memorable experiences for our guests.
The ideal candidate is a skilled artisan bartender possessing deep knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, a passion for creating unique beverages and a fully committed to exceptional guest service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages accurately and efficiently according to established recipes and standards.
- Demonstrate expertise in mixing, garnishing, and presenting cocktails, beer, wine and other beverages.
- Create and experiment with new and innovative cocktail recipes and trends, contributing to the menu development.
- Provide friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable service to all guests, contributing to a positive and welcoming atmosphere. Handle guest inquiries and concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well stocked bar area, including glassware, tools and ingredients.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of all beverages and bar supplies. Monitor inventory levels and communicate any needs to management.
- Operate and maintain bar equipment safely and efficiently. Set up and maintain a clean, efficient bar throughout the shift. Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with other bar staff, servers, and kitchen staff. Train and educate other bar staff and service staff.
- Perform correct POS transactions, closing duties and accounting procedures as required.
- Understand and adhere to all company policies and procedures related to beverage service and responsible beverage service.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred Degree: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Years of experience: Two or more years as a bartender/mixologist preferred, one year required.
- Must be 21 years of age
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
- Comprehensive knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktail recipes, techniques, and garnishes.
- Strong understanding of different types of spirits, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Stay up to date on current cocktail trends, techniques, and ingredients.
- Continuously expand knowledge of spirits, beer, wines and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Mathematical Skills
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts in relation to recipes for volume, ounces, etc.
- Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Other Skills and Abilities
- The ability to work well with a team, to prioritize, a sense of urgency and a real concern for guest satisfaction.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly walks, and stands.
Occasionally lifts up to 50 lbs., and does computer work.
Seldom/Never sits.
Additional Physical Requirements:
- Must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
