What You'll Do

Under general supervision, administer benefit plans across all Bassett Healthcare Network locations. Areas of focus may include health and welfare plan administration, leave of absence administration, and/or retirement plan administration.

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the benefits offerings ensuring accurate, timely, and service-focused outcomes in support of the Total Rewards objectives. This role serves as the front-line contact person for employee benefit questions and issue resolution.

Responsible for ensuring employee benefit data is accurate in the HRIS/Benefits systems. Serves as the subject matter expert for assigned benefit programs and processes in accordance with policy documents and applicable federal and state regulations. Highly skilled in answering questions, understanding the employee’s situation, applying the appropriate benefits, responding to changing circumstances and needs, and paving the way for a connected and trusted experience.

Oversee relationships with benefits service providers, outsourced vendors, and third-party administrators, to ensure compliance with processes, requirements, laws, and service expectations.

Support the HR community and business leaders in navigating benefits administration. Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints. Evaluate problems and take appropriate action to resolve issues/concerns.

Responsible for overseeing implementations, system updates, electronic recordkeeping, maintenance, and tracking as required.

  • Administer daily benefit plan activities in accordance with regulations including enrollments, terminations, and status changes.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for employee (actives, terms, and retirees) inquiries related to benefit plan options and coverage, and brokers/vendors to resolve employee and plan administrative concerns.
  • Facilitate new hire benefit orientation.
  • Administer short- and long-term disability programs, FMLA, and NYS PFL.
  • Ensure benefit program materials are current and accessible to employees using available up-to-date HRIS and intranet resources.
  • Performs quality checks and audits to ensure accurate benefits data and compliance adherence, which includes coordinating invoice reconciliation and payment processing.
  • Participate in Open Enrollment planning, employee communications, administrative arrangements, and monitoring/approving employee elections for accuracy and completeness. Assisting with post-Open Enrollment process with vendors, employees and Payroll.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day benefit process by managing workflows.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and Payroll/HRIS teams to ensure benefits are calculated and processed accurately.
  • Coordinate with third party administrators benefit updates and administration requirements.
  • Keep abreast of all Federal and state laws and regulations including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.
  • Complete various human resources, financial, administrative, and other reports, and analyses.
  • Serve as backup to all lines of coverage and benefit administration tasks.
  • Drive consistent project management support for implementations and ongoing administration by identifying and helping resolve issues.
  • Responsible for updating HRIS records, troubleshooting any data errors, process breakdowns, and employee escalations by working with internal/external stakeholders to perform a root cause analysis and correction of the errors identified.
  • Provide support for Benefits and Retirement Team initiatives as required.
  • Work on ad-hoc projects and perform other duties as requested.

Education:

What we need from you

  • High School or GED, preferred.

Experience:

  • 5 years directly administering benefits experience with Federal, State, and Local laws, required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 lbs of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking or standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Pay Range

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.

Pay Range Minimum:

USD $24.25/Hr.

Pay Range Maximum:

USD $36.38/Hr.
