Summary/Objective: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Master Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker to support and promote positive reintegration and improved quality of life for Bastion residents. In this role, the Social Worker will inform, educate and support staff and residents in understanding and responding to the emotional, psychological, and behavioral needs of the community. The ideal candidate is experienced in community mental health practices and passionate about serving the veteran community.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
o Co-facilitate 3-5 Wellness Intensive cohorts in a calendar year per grant agreement
o Assist with promotion and recruitment of participants
o Service delivery to include individual therapy and group psychoeducation
o Conduct intakes on participants
o Document all encounters in Bastion’s EMR
o Evaluation and data management
o Data synthesization post group
o Work with the social work team to create psychoeducation content, including media presentations, worksheets, activities, etc.
o Provide case management and resource provision to Bastion residents, as needed.
o Conduct crisis response in coordination with the Bastion Team and property management when there is conflict within the community.
o Leverage and manage new opportunities, special offers, donations and resource distribution (from external stakeholders) that improve resident experience (with support from Operations Coordinator).
o Support communication to residents through various channels including e-blasts, text alerts, and newsletters.
o Support social work team and Operation Coordinator on project/event planning, management, and leadership for community building projects, community gatherings, and other events.
o Performs other duties and supports special projects, as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
o Contribute to and participate in team meetings and other meetings/training as required.
o Always maintain confidentiality in respect of residents, participants and staff.
o Cultivate time management and organization skills critical to success in this role.
o Establish and maintain defined professional boundaries between yourself and residents.
o Promote healthy lifestyle through education and skill-building within various programs in coordination with the social work team.
o Work as a member of a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary team to problem solve, share new learning, and effectively communicate across the organization and community.
o Model and promote health self-care techniques.
o Develop appropriate professional relationships with residents, their families, and Bastion community members at large such as supporters, volunteers, donors, etc.
Education, Experience, & Qualifications:
o Master of Social Work degree from an accredited university is REQUIRED.
o Veteran or military experience or connection highly preferred.
o Certification in wellness and/or mindfulness practices is preferred.
o Background in community and mental health settings preferred.
o Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
o Excellent communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal abilities.
o Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
o Empathy and a commitment to serving the veteran community.
Work Environment & Demands:
o The position requires working in an office and group therapy environment, with occasional travel to community partner and participant locations. The role requires flexibility in adapting to varying participant needs and program demands.
o Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., program materials or supplies).
o May involve standing or walking for extended periods while some tasks may require bending, stooping, or reaching.
o Regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and various digital devices.
o Capacity to perform repetitive tasks; read, analyze, and interpret data; maintain visual attention and mental concentration for significant periods of time.
