The Chief Engineer for Gateway Lab Operations GRAIL will support the JETS II contract in Houston, Texas.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Chief Engineer will be the expert supporting the GRAIL (Gateway Ready Avionics Integration Lab), a critical testing facility of the Gateway Program which will return to the Moon.
- Chief expertise on facility and emulator design fidelity.
- Chief expertise on development and integration of high-fidelity avionic hardware and software integration of the lab.
- Support engineering flight project schedule, procurement documentation, budget and system requirements documents.
- Review integrated analysis of the GRAIL system, hardware and software in relation to other Gateway Systems and the operational environment.
- Participate and contribute to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews.
- Review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall facility design and performance to inform decision making.
- Work with team members and leads to identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan risk responses with mitigation strategies.
- Work and present lab fidelity to customers and boards/panels.
- Other duties as assigned.

- This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
- Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a related area.
- Must have 10 years of recent and related experience.
- On location position - situational telework only.
- Past experience in development and integration of a high-fidelity integration lab.
- Understanding of electrical, mechanical and power systems.
- Able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision.
DESIRED:
- BS degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school.
- Past experience with NASA.
- Past experience with Avionics is a plus.
WORK LOCATION:
- This position is located onsite.
- This position offers a 9/80 schedule, every other Friday off.
- This position may require some travel.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.

- Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
- Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
- May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
- Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
