Job Description

The Engineering Intern will support the Marshall Space Flight Center Safety Mission and Assurance Services contract supporting NASA.

Locations include Huntsville, AL; West Palm Beach, FL; Desoto, CA and Stennis Space Center, MS.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Hands on technical work in support of on-going projects in various disciplines within NASA Safety & Mission Assurance (SMA) under the supervision of our more senior engineers.
Basic engineering tasks related to design, analysis, test, integration, and systems engineering. Opportunities can vary from performing analysis on existing flight hardware, assisting in the design and development of future hardware, performing analysis for both completed and future launches.
Activities can include but are not limited to data analysis, analysis methodology improvement projects, software improvement projects, trade studies, design for manufacturer studies, creating or modifying tool designs, processing cause and corrective actions for non-conformances, maintain production work instructions, supplier management, and component or integrated systems tests.
Will support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of engineering.
Perform and / or participate in additional activities / events which help them build a strong network within the NASA / Bastion community and with fellow interns.
Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED :

This position requires US Citizenship

Must be pursing bachelor's degree in the field of engineering, or a related field.

Must have 0-3 years of recent and related work experience.

Required to be regular in attendance (per agreed to work hours schedule), consistently punctual and be relied upon to successfully complete all assignments.

DESIRED :

Effective communicator and ability to work within a team environment.

Self-starter requiring minimal direction in completing assigned tasks within ability to excel in dynamic environment.

Exhibit strong interpersonal skills requiring daily interaction with varying levels of customer personnel.

Training in common engineering computer programs such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, Power Bi and Python

NASA related experience is a plus. MSFC experience is a big plus.

WORK LOCATION :

This position will be onsite.

This position is part-time 20-30hrs / week.

This position may require some travel.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED :

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification / check process.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED :

All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.

STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS :

Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

All of Bastion's employees must be team players.

Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.

Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.

Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.

Must be organized with good time management skills.

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).

May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.

Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
