The Structural Design Professional will support the ML2 Project at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, FL.
This is a short-term assignment, and the expected duration is 5 months.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Originate and check structural steel deliverables of moderate complexity, including drawings and 3-D models structural design.
- Review Structural steel deliverables of moderate complexity, including drawings and 3-D models for steel.
- Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables
- Report design quantities compared to estimated quantities.
- Participate in project design/model reviews.
- Participate in constructability reviews.
- Review and coordinate technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction.
- Support design development of structural steel engineering designs for the project by preparing studies, drawings, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Must have a bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Must have 8 years of recent and related work experience.
- In lieu of degree: Candidates with 12 years of recent and related work experience will be considered.
- Advance experience in the use of Autocad and Tekla and or similar software.
- Work experience should emphasize structural steel design of heavy industrial type facilities.
- Familiar with the provisions of ASTM, AISC, OSHA, and IBC codes.
- Knowledge of construction materials and construction details and techniques.
- Familiar with the methods of procurement and control of bulk materials.
- Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other disciplines associated with Facilities Design.
- Ability to independently execute the detailed design drawings of structural systems of moderate complexity.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications.
- Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.
- Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
- Ability to issue clear and concise direction to subordinate designers and drafters.
- Experience in the structural steel design for Nuclear Quality and Safety Environment.
- AA in civil engineering or engineering technology.
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt or higher or working knowledge of other process improvement programs.
WORK LOCATION:
- This position is located onsite.
- This position may require some travel.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
