The Structures Engineer will support the JETS II contract in Houston, Texas. The Structures Engineer - LTV, xEVA, and Pressurized Rover will have an impact on the Earth to Moon mission both strategically and tactically

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Provide subsystem management and integration oversight and insight in support of EHP Structures System Team, influencing hardware development.
Develop and leverage understanding of integrated EHP architecture and operations as it pertains to Structures and Mechanisms interaction in specific hardware design and across interfaces.
Provide system requirements development and interpretation, including deviations and alternate standards, as it pertains to the NASA Technical Authority Design and Construction Standards and Subsystem Specifications for structures and mechanical systems.
Provide support to Program milestones by providing critical review and reporting of hardware development and requirement verification.
Support the development of hardware and integrated Safety hazards and reviews. - Provide review of design and verification documentation related to EHP Structural and Mechanisms systems and hardware.
Evaluate designs and perform technical and safety assessments. Identify areas needing independent verification and validation.
Review and participate in test and verification of EHP hardware, including system and component level stress analysis.
Provide technical support to Program Office, Boards and Panel meetings as the structures and mechanisms subject expert. Draw on other engineering resources for additional expertise as needed. Integrate with other technical disciplines to solve technical issues and progress the mission forward. - Travel as needed to other NASA centers and commercial partner facilities, international and domestic, in support of duties.

REQUIRED :

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering.

Must have 2 years of recent and related experience.

Structural or mechanical system design experience including familiarization with design and analysis tools and testing methods.

Experience conducting stress analysis and / or reviewing stress analysis models and reports.

Experience with NASA structural, mechanical, and safety standards and their application.

Self-motivation and quick learner to adapt to the broad array of subjects and issues encountered.

DESIRED :

BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering.

A working knowledge and experience with NASA design and verification documentation and requirements.

Systems Engineering experience / background or a desire to learn systems engineering.

WORK LOCATION :

This position is located onsite.

This position offers a 9 / 80 schedule, every other Friday off.

This position may require some travel.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED :

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification / check process.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED :

All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.

Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

All of Bastion's employees must be team players.

Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.

Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.

Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.

Must be organized with good time management skills.

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).

May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.

Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
