BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: Perform on-site technical work to install and maintain computer equipment and network and software applications throughout the district with limited supervision. Respond to level II work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computer hardware. Strong customer service skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of computer workstation setup (various systems i.e. PC, Apple, Linux, etc.)
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications (various systems i.e. PC, Apple, Linux, etc.)
- Knowledge of computer mobile devices (various systems i.e. Apple, Android, Windows, etc.)
- Ability to install, maintain, and repair computers and peripherals, including printers, scanners, and presentation devices
- Ability to install and maintain network cables and hardware
- Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in an IT support role
- A , network , or equivalent Microsoft, CompTIA, or Cisco certification in relevant programs preferred

Support of Administrative, Fiscal and/or Facilities Functions:
- Install and upgrade computers, mobile devices, and peripherals throughout the district
- Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, mobile devices, and equipment as needed
- Install and configure software as needed
- Diagnose and repair equipment, including printers, mobile devices, and personal computers
- Troubleshoot infrastructure issues; Support the efforts of the HelpDesk and field service teams; Collaborate with field technicians and HelpDesk to ensure that all endpoints are able to connect and operate effectively
- Assist in problem isolation and resolution activities for all equipment and users on the Bastrop ISD network
- Assist in the maintenance and support of the print management services
- Assist in the maintenance and support of battery backup strategies to ensure proper uptime and reliability for all networking equipment
- Physically install and terminate copper and fiber structured cable distribution systems
- Diagnose and correct copper and optical fiber problems
- Handle multiple projects with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines
- Troubleshoot problems reported by users; Analyze and isolate issues; Consult with management and vendors to resolve issues in a timely manner
- Document all work performed and keep accurate inventory records
- Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed
- Support Network Infrastructure Specialist with communications and security closet clean-up, switch port optimization, and survey work as needed
